Collier Childcare Center Wins Design Award

The Edison Child Care project at the Collier Campus was awarded the Design Award of Unbuilt Honor in Architecture at this year’s Florida Southwest Association of the AIA, 2008 SW Florida Design Conference. The Award was one of five in different categories out of 33 projects which were submitted. As an Unbuilt award from our architectural peers, it is one that contains a strong design concept and thoughtful design execution.

We are proud of the design for this project. It is rooted in the teaching philosophy of the Reggio Emilia approach and was strongly influenced by the valuable interaction with Edison staff and with Child Care of SW Florida. This interactive process led to many of its unique design features. It will also be a LEED certified project, the first for Edison State College.

We are extremely thankful to Edison State College for allowing us to be involved in this project and to The Naples Children and Education Foundation for the generous donation that made this project possible.
