Paradise Coast isn’t exactly known for its frosty winters. But at A Step Up at Golden Gate High School, a Collier Child Care Resources (CCCR) development center, students were offered the chance to play in the real thing!
Students and parents alike enjoyed a little break from Florida’s heat during the Winter Festival on Wednesday, December 20th. A rented snow machine provided a few hours of fun for the children to explore and learn under the guise of play – a cornerstone in the Reggio Emilia philosophy that the school has adopted, which encourages growth through curiosity, observation and challenges. There was even a surprise visit made by Santa, who delivered books and teddy bears to all the children.
To make the event even more special, Menchies Frozen Yogurt Naples delighted all in attendance with a generous gift of 85 tubs of frozen yogurt that had been donated to the event by an anonymous guest. Menchies himself even made a special appearance to help deliver the yogurt and partake in the snow and fun. Menchies owner Jill McCallum said, “It was wonderful to see all the children play in the snow and enjoy their yogurt. It was great fun for everyone involved.”
Her husband Greig added, “The work Ivette and the team do for the children at A Step Up is so important all year round. We were excited to help support their party, with thanks to our wonderful guests who so generously contributed to help make this happen.”
